LESSON 5.31 VEGETABLES - SINGLE USED DRIP TAPES & MOBIL FILTER  

 

Drip Tapes for Certainty and Flexibility

 

A defining feature of open field vegetables is that the drip line is generally single use. Drip lines with a wall thickness of 5 –10 mil are used depending on the amount of insects present and the condition of the soil. Thicker drip lines should be used where there is greater insect risk.

The reasons and benefits of single use drip lines include:

·         The value of crop production per m2 is very high compared to most other crops. Single use of each drip line ensures that new drip lines are installed each season.

·         Crop cycle is short 70 –150 days. Removes the need for longer lasting (thicker and more expensive) drip lines.

·         Crop rotation is common. Select the right drip line for your crop by changing your drip line to best match the unique needs of each crop every season.

·         Drip tape is often installed at the same time as plants and plastic mulch.

·         Single use drip tape is generally expensed each season the same way fertilizer is.

·         Allows for fast setup and portable systems where land is leased. Additional flexibility can be achieved when used in conjunction with mobile system using special filters.

Mikanda ya Matone kwa Uhakika na Unyumbufu

Kipengele kinachobainisha cha mboga za shambani ni kwamba njia ya matone kwa ujumla ni matumizi moja. Mistari ya matone yenye unene wa ukuta wa mil 5 –10 hutumika kulingana na wingi wa wadudu waliopo na hali ya udongo. Mistari minene ya matone inapaswa kutumika mahali ambapo kuna hatari kubwa ya wadudu.

Sababu na faida za matumizi ya njia za drip ni pamoja na:

• Thamani ya uzalishaji wa mazao kwa kila m2 ni kubwa sana ikilinganishwa na mazao mengine mengi. Matumizi moja ya kila njia ya matone huhakikisha kwamba njia mpya za matone husakinishwa kila msimu.

• Mzunguko wa mazao ni mfupi wa siku 70 -150. Huondoa hitaji la njia za kudondoshea matone zinazodumu kwa muda mrefu (zito na ghali zaidi).

• Mzunguko wa mazao ni jambo la kawaida. Chagua njia ya kudondoshea matone sahihi ya mazao yako kwa kubadilisha njia yako ya matone ili ilingane vyema na mahitaji ya kipekee ya kila zao kila msimu.

• Utepe wa matone mara nyingi huwekwa kwa wakati mmoja na mimea na matandazo ya plastiki.

• Utepe wa kutumia dripu moja kwa ujumla hugharamiwa kila msimu kwa njia sawa na mbolea.

• Inaruhusu usanidi wa haraka na mifumo ya kubebeka ambapo ardhi imekodishwa. Unyumbulifu wa ziada unaweza kupatikana wakati unatumiwa kwa kushirikiana na mfumo wa simu kwa kutumia vichungi maalum.
